Fawley Court, courtyard garden

Fawley Court in Herefordshire was a garden of several different styles and immaculately kept. Mrs Clay wanted to “stack” the pictures so I did four paintings; the walled garden, the terrace, the pond/lake and a courtyard painting. I stayed nearby at a Wolsey Lodge and I remember that a bat came into my room one night and spent quite a while whirling around until it escaped out of the window.
